ベルギーに限らずヨーロッパの大学の建築は実践指向で構法や材料まで非常にこだわる。ベルギーでは建築士資格は１つしか無く、それを取得するには修士を修めて事務所で二年間のインターンが必要だが試験は無いらしい。そのため必然的に大学院が技術的な事を学ぶ場になるのだろう。
日本と違い研究室に所属し研究をすることもない。彼らが物事をどんどん決めて次へと進んで行くのも最終提出物に課せられる技術的な側面が多いためだろう。日本では当たり前の様な空間指向がこちらでは感じられない。


Architecture students in Europe, not only Belgium, consider about structure and material. Education is practice-oriented. In Belgium there is only one license for architect, to get which they have to get master degree and do two-years internship but no exam. Because of that, graduated schools have to be school for practice.
They don't belong to lab and research, different to Japan. The reason why they make decision rapidly and go next step so fast is that they have to submit various technical tasks, I think. Space-oriented, so common in Japan, I cannot feel here.

DAY 088

ようやくスタジオが軌道に乗って来た。最終提出が1月10日なので年末までに大方終わらせて年末年始はゆっくりしたい。

Gradually my studio work goes well. Final deadline is 10th Jan, then I want to finish before the end of the year and spend good time.

DAY 087

グランプラスもすっかりクリスマスの支度が整っている。
昨日上げた写真は池に蓋をして出来た仮設の遊園地。仮設なのにメリーゴーランドや観覧車があるのが不思議、、。全く雰囲気が変わる。
グランプラスには大きなツリーとともにキリストの誕生を再現した実物大の納屋の模型がある。キリストやその他の人ももちろん人形なのだけれど、羊はなぜか本物。観光客やライトアップショーの音楽を気にする事無くむしゃむしゃ草を食べ続けている。


Christmas ready in Grand-Place.
Pictures I uploaded yesterday is temporary amusement park, which is made above a buried pond. Although temporary, it has a ferris wheel and a merry-go-round... It change the place dramatically.
In Grand-Place there are big Christmas tree and a life-size model of a shed to show the birth of Christ. Christ and other people are dolls of course, but sheep are real. They eat hay without taking care of tourists and music of light-up show.

DAY 086

今日はアトミウムへ行ってきました。
1958年の万博、EXPO'58のシンボルとして作られた鉄の分子構造を模したモニュメントで、万博後も残されブリュッセルを代表するランドマークとなっている。
EXPO'58は戦後初の万博であり、多国間の平和的発展、科学技術の安全利用によってより良い未来を迎える事テーマに掲げこのモニュメントは作られたらしい。


Went to Atomium.
It is a monument made for a symbol of EXPO'58 and stands for atomic structure of iron. It remained after EXPO'58 and became a famous landmark in Brussels.
EXPO'58 is the first one after WWII, then Atomium symbolized the will to maintain peaceful relationship among all the nations and use technology safely finally to get the good future.

DAY 085

1kgあたり0.50ユーロの冷凍フライドポテトを買ったので最近夜食にフライドポテトを揚げて食べてる。そして何を間違ったのかジャガイモを買ってしまったのでジャガバターにして食べたらこれもとってもおいしい。

I bought a frozen french fries, 1 kg for 0.50 euro, and eat them for a midnight snack these days. And, I can't understand,  I bought also potato by mistake. Then I ate it with butter, it is good, too.

DAY 084

今日は日本人留学生とベルギー人との小さなワークショップのためにゲントへ。

ベルギーでは国有の土地が一切ないことやほんの30年程前までは井戸から水をとっていたところもあったなど毎回色々なことを教わる。

Went to Ghent for the small workshop among Japanese exchange students and Belgian students.

In Belgium there are no state-owned land and in some place people got water by using well until about 30 years ago. I can get new knowledge in every class.

授業のために日本の住宅事情について調べている。ネットは便利ではあるけれどやはり図書館には遠く及ばない。つまり作業が進まない、、。


I am searching about today's Japanese house for my class. Although internet is useful, a library is more. So my work doesn't go well...

日帰りでアントワープへ。片道40分程。
暗い地下ホームと明るい地上部が対照的。Louis Delacenserieが設計し1905年の開業以来ターミナル駅として機能していた駅を通過式にするため1998年に地下掘削工事を開始、2007年に地下ホームの利用が開始された。
ヨーロッパの駅が持つスケール感はわくわくさせてくれる。


Went day trip to Antwerp.  It takes about 40 minutes from Brussels.
Good contrast between dark underground platform and light-ful above-ground part. This station, designed by Louis Delacenserie, was used for terminal station from the start in 1905, but, in 1998, construction to make it passage type station started and in 2007 underground platform was open.
The scale European stations have make me excited.

偶然見つけたパサージュ。ブリュッセルのGaleries Royales St. Hubertも良いけれど、これは途中に大きな空間があって驚いた。とても奇麗に装飾されているけれど入っているお店は意外と庶民的。

A passage find by chance. Although Galeries Royales St. Hubert, the passage in Brussels, is nice, this has big inner square and it surprised me. It is decorated well but shops are popular ones. 

そしてルーベンスの住宅を利用した美術館Rubenshuisへ。26歳以下は1ユーロ。

家の前の広場に作られた券売所、ミュージアムショップはゲートの役割を果たしている。中にあったロッカーは半透明でうっすらと中身が透けて見えるのが面白かった。

前回アムステルダムで見た展覧会といい、彼らの静物画における描画の細かさには驚かされる。

Then went to Rubenshuis. Under 26 is for 1 euro.

A ticket center and museum shop in front of house plays a gate to the house. Lockers inside are semitransparent and we can see inside dimly.

Also in the last exhibition, I went in Amsterdam, minutely describing of still life  are incredible.

そして『フランダースの犬』で有名な教会De Kathedraalへ。

受付のおばさんは日本語を流暢に話し、パンフレットも日本語のものが一番多かった、、。

To De Kathedraal, famous for "A Dog of Flanders".

Woman in the counter spoke Japanese fluently and there are too much Japanese pamphlet (most largest number)...

最後にNeutelings Riedijk設計の美術館、MAS (2010)へ。

展示室の周りを動線が囲み、それが最上階まで連続する構成。ただし全く同じ構成が繰り返す動線部分は単調で、広いスペースの割には有効に使われていない。ダイアグラムをそのまま建築化しただけに見える。

ただ照明やスプリンクラー、設備管などが同じ配置でパネルに取り付けられているのは面白い。床にはルネサンス期に作られた理想都市Palmanova (1593)を模したレリーフが埋め込まれ、外壁には手のオブジェが取り付けられている。

この手のオブジェはアントワープの地名の由来にもなっている『ブラボーの物語』からきている。

2000年程前、川を跨いで立つほどの巨人Antigoonがいて川を通る船に重税を課し、払わない場合は船長の手首を切って捨てていた。ローマ軍を率いていたBraboがその噂を聞きつけAntigoonを退治し、その首と右手を切り捨てた。それ以来hant(手) + werpen(投げ捨てる) = hantwerpenと呼ばれるようになったそうです。

At last went to MAS (2010), museum designed by Neutelings Riedijk.

The line of flow twins around exhibition spaces and reach to the top floor. But repeat of same construction is boring and it's large space is not used than passing. Just a building from diagram.

But lights, sprinklers, equipment ducts  and so on are put in the same format, in the center of panel, it's good. On the floor, there are reliefs stand for Palmanova (1593), ideal city in the Renaissance. On the wall outside, there are objects of hands.

Hand comes from "The story of Brabo", the origin of the land name of Antwerp.

About 2000 years ago, there was a giant, Antigoon, who was big enough to stand striding a river. He taxed ships and if they refused he cut the captain's hand. Brabo, leaded the Roman Army, heard that then exterminated him and cut his neck and hand. After that there is called "hant (hand) + werpen (throw away) = hantwerpen".
