車を借りていざ出発。1日目はオルジアティの建築を巡る。

We started by a rent-a-car. The first day is for Olgiati.

最初に訪れたのはシャランツにある「音楽家の家」（2007）。

音楽家の自宅兼アトリエは景観保護のために元々あった納屋のボリュームを踏襲しつつ、内庭を持ったプランと模様のつけられた赤茶がかった壁によって個性が与えられている。壁に空けられた大きな窓は引き戸で開閉可能。

The first visit place is "House for a Musician" (2007) in Scharans.

This house with atelier occupies the site of a former barn and the volume was rebuilt for village scape preservation. Its plan with inner yard and a red concrete wall covered with a myriad of ornaments put this personality. The big window in the wall can be open and close by a slide door.

続いてパスペルにある「パスペル中学校」（1998）へ。

外観はシンプルなコンクリートの箱であるが、平面は微妙に直角からずらされている。さらに各部屋の仕切り壁も外壁からわずかに角度を振っているため、結果廊下の壁は並行でなく、幅の違いや軸のズレによる空間体験は図面で見るだけでは分からない。動いて見るとその特徴がよくわかる。

Next to "Paspels School" (1998) in Paspels.
It is a reinforced concrete monolith. The architect did not use right angles for the outside, so although at first glance the exterior geometry seems simple, closer study reveals a chain-like reaction of slight distortions that shroud the building in an air of strangeness. Inside, however each classroom on the first and second floors has two right-angled sides that make up the walls of cruciform access corridors. In sum, the school can be interpreted as an exercise in the phenomenology of perception (text from website Mimoa)

昨日までは快晴だったらしいのだが、急に降り出した雪で路面も凍結。

I heard that it sun up until yesterday, but it snows heavily and roads are covered ice.

険しい雪道を抜けてフリムスへ。まずは「黄色い家」（1999）。

この建物はリノベーションで、以前は黄色に塗られていた。

オルジアティの父親が市から改修の依頼を受けていたが亡くなってしまい、オルジアティが「白く塗れ」という遺言に基づき改修を行なった。

「パスペルの中学校」も部材が取り合う部分を無理に納めることなく隙間がとられていたが、ディテールに凝った日本の建築と比較してみると新しいデザインの様に思えてしまう。

Thorough a severe snow road, got to Flims. At first to "The Yellow House" (1999).

Shortly before his death, architect Rudolf Olgiati donated his collection of cultural assets to the municipality of Flims on the condition that 'Das Gelbe Haus' (The Yellow House) in the heart of Flims was rebuilt according to his liking. Before all, it had to be "painted white from top to bottom". In 1997, his son, Valerio Olgiati, was comissioned by the municipality to redesign the house into a museum (text from website museum).
