今日はクリスマスマーケットと朝市を見にリエージュへ。
ところがどっこい、到着したカラトラバ設計のリエージュ=ギユマン駅(2009)が想像以上の格好良さ。
カラトラバの作品はこれまでバルセロナのバック・デ・ローダ橋(1987)、リヨンのサンテグジュペリ駅(1994)を見て来たけれど、大分印象が異なる。ギユマン駅はカラトラバ独特の巨大な生物の骨の様な造形を用いながら、それを主張するのではなく、作られる空間の方に意識が向いている。細く白いコンクリートの骨組みは全体像が捉えにくく、どこまでも空間が広がって行く様な錯覚を覚える。
これだけの透明感をもった大空間を見たのは初めて。
高低差のある地形を利用してサービス部分を地中に埋めたことにより、外に露出する部分をホームのみに抑えられた事もこの透明感を獲得するのに一役買っている。


Today I went to Liège to see the morning market and christmas market.
I hadn't expected, Gare de Liège-Guikkemins (2009), designed by Santiago Calatrava, was very nice.
I have seen his two other works before, Bac de Roda Bridge (1987, Barcelona) and Gare de Saint-Exupéry (1994, Lyon).
But I felt different impression to this new one. In this he also use his originally shape looks like big animal's born, however not emphasize that shape too much but give attention to the space, I felt.
Thin white concrete structure make me hard to get the whole space shape and have an illusion as if this space extend ever.
This site has a different height and he could buried the service part, then only thing appears on ground is big platform space. It has a relation to get transparency.

 

バック・デ・ローダ橋(1987、バルセロナ)はただの橋だな、以上の感想は持たなかった。

To Bac de Roda Bridge (1987, Barcelona) I had the impression that it was only a bridge.

サンテグジュペリ駅(1994、リヨン）は空間の透明さよりも黒色に塗られた鉄骨が造形を主張しているように感じられる。

In Gare de Saint-Exupéry (1994, Lyon) he tried to emphasize his shape by using black colored steel, I felt.

ようやくリエージュの朝市に到着。ここでは鳥や動物も売られている。

And then could get to the morning market. Here birds and animals are sold, too.

寒いのでみんな集って丸くなっているのが可愛い。

Because it was so cold, then they got together and became round-shape. Very cute.

しかしその横では食用のウサギやと鶏が吊るされていた、、。

But next to this, rabbits and chicken for eating were sold...

川沿いに数キロにわたって色々なお店が軒を連ねている。


There were many shops along the river for several kilometers.

街の中にはやたら動物がたくさんいた。


In the city there were many animals.

ビューラン山の石の階段、373段を登りきるとリエージュがほぼ一望出来る。階段の途中にはベンチも置いてあり、撮影も行なわれていた。

 別のルートをたどって下る。今までいったベルギーの都市はどこも平坦だったので、坂道沿いの風景というのは新鮮。両側に家の壁がそびえるも前方に視界が抜けるので窮屈な感じはしない。


Go down thorough another route. Because the other cities I went were plane, a sloping landscape was fresh to me.

そしてクリスマスマーケットへ。ヨーロッパで一番の長さを誇るらしい。出店しているお店はブリュッセルと変わらないけれど、リエージュではバーやレストランのある通り沿いで行なわれるので出店と元々あるお店が混ざりあっており、歩いている人、立っている人、座っている人いろんな人がいてどこか落ち着いた雰囲気を漂わしている。


Finally got to christmas market. It is longest in Europe. Types of stalls were same to Brussels', but in Liège the market is held along the street where are bars and restaurants then they and stalls were mixed. And there were people walking, standing and sitting. It made here more comfortable.

ブリュッセルに戻り夜はグランプラスのライトアップショーを見に行く。何度も見に来ているけど見飽きない。シナモンの甘い香りが漂うホットワインを飲んで暖をとる。電子レンジでも作れるらしいので今度自分で作ってみよう。


After backing to Brussels went to Grand-Place to see light-up show. I went several times already but I can enjoy every time. Drunk warm wine with cinnamon flavor and got warm. It can be made by a microwave oven and I will try.
