今日はstudy-visitでルーベンへ。ブリュッセルから電車で20分程。
哲学者エラスムス(欧州交換留学プログラムエラスムスの由来となった人物)が教鞭をとったルーヴェン・カトリック大学があるベルギー最大学生都市で、人口9万人のうち4万人を学生が占めている。
しかし1968年に言語対立から大学は二分し、フランス語側は新たに新ルーヴェン市をつくりそちらに移ったらしい。ベルギーらしいエピソード。


I went study-visit to Leuven. It takes about 20 minutes from Brussels by train.
There is Catholic University Leuven, where Erasmus used to lecture, who is the origin of Erasmus Program, European Union Student Exchange Program. Leuven is biggest student city in Belgium and 40,000 are student (total resident is 90,000).
But in 1968 the University was divided  to two parts because of language conflict and French part made New-Leuven and moved there. It is Belgium-like episode.
